Medical and General Conditions

Scuba diving implies good physical and mental conditions, due to the underwater pressure.
Western Australia regulations and laws do not require medical examination from the doctor as long as you are in good physical and mental health. In that case you can start now with Perth Ocean either for a try dive, a course, or participate to a day or holiday trip if you are already certified.
If you have a medical condition, you will need to provide to your Perth Ocean Instructor a medical certificate from a doctor specialized in scuba diving (you can consult the doctor list by clicking on the blue link).

Below the main medical conditions requiring a medical certificate:

  • Lung diseases: respiratory failure, asthma
  • Some eye diseases
  • Some heart diseases (heart failure, congenital heart disease …)
  • Some neurological diseases such as epilepsy
  • Some dermatological diseases
  • Some psychiatric illnesses
  • Unchecked diabetes
